Same slots each weekend. Attend one and you're evaluated.

The Process

Three steps to a SLAAM jersey.

Register

Fill out the Google Form and pick the date you plan to attend. Confirmation lands in your inbox right after.

Try Out

Show up ready to work. Tryouts are run by the SLAAM coaching staff and evaluated as live basketball, not drills in lines.

Get Placed

Athletes are placed onto the team that fits their level. Power 24, Select 40, or E-40 depending on age and evaluation.

What every family asks first.

Who can try out?
Any girls basketball player from 4th grade through high school is welcome. SLAAM serves athletes across every age, evaluated by age and skill at tryouts.
When are tryouts?
The current tryout window is September 26 – October 4, 2026. Register on the Google Form linked above and show up on your chosen date.
What should she bring?
Basketball shoes, athletic gear, a water bottle, and a printed or saved copy of her schedule for the rest of the day. Reversible jerseys are provided.
What does it cost?
Program fees vary by team and what is included (uniform package, travel, tournament entries). We talk through costs with every family during placement so there are no surprises.
Do you offer financial assistance?
Yes. SLAAM does not want cost to be the reason an athlete cannot play. Reach out through the contact form and we will have a private conversation about options.
My daughter has never played AAU before. Is that a problem?
No. We have placed first-time AAU athletes onto every team in the program. What we look for at tryouts is effort, attitude, and coachability.
How are teams selected?
Coaches evaluate during tryouts and discuss every athlete as a staff. Placement is based on age, skill level, and team fit, with the goal of putting each player on the team where she will develop most.
Where do you practice?
Practices and tryouts run at our facility on Yost Blvd in Pittsburgh. Specific schedules are shared with families after placement.
