Accessibility Statement

How SLAAM Basketball builds and maintains the website to be usable by everyone, and how to reach us if something is not working for you.

SLAAM Basketball is committed to making slaambasketball.com usable by as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technology like screen readers, keyboard navigation, switch devices, or magnification.

Standards we follow

This site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard most widely referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for public-facing websites in the United States.

What we have built in

  • Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element is reachable and operable with a keyboard. A “Skip to content” link appears on focus so keyboard users can jump past the navigation.
  • Screen reader support. Pages use semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer). Images carry descriptive alternative text. Forms have labels associated with their inputs and announce required fields. The mobile menu reports its open and closed state.
  • Color contrast. Body text meets WCAG AA contrast against its background. Display headlines that sit on bright brand colors meet the large-text contrast requirement.
  • Focus indicators. A visible lime outline appears around any element that receives keyboard focus.
  • Reduced motion. If your operating system has “Reduce motion” enabled, the homepage hero photo cycle and the marquee ticker stop animating.
  • Self-hosted typography. Fonts are served from slaambasketball.com directly rather than a third-party CDN, which also reduces the number of places that need to be reachable for the page to render.
  • Resizable text. Page layout responds to text resized up to 200 percent without losing content or breaking interaction.

Known limits

  • Some embedded third-party widgets (for example an Instagram feed or YouTube videos linked from the site) are rendered by the original platform and inherit that platform’s accessibility behavior. We pick widgets that meet a reasonable bar but do not control them.
  • Older PDF documents linked from the site may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need the information in a different format, let us know and we will provide it.

Tell us if something is not working

If any part of slaambasketball.com is not working for you, please email slaambasketball@gmail.com or call 412-475-1294. Describe what you were trying to do, the device or assistive technology you were using, and what happened. We will respond and work on a fix.

We treat accessibility as an ongoing job, not a checkbox. This statement is reviewed and updated whenever the site changes.
